This little survey is no less opportune than Young's book. It will, in fact, serve very well as a companion volume and guide. Sir Harold, writing under the auspices of the Royal Institute of International Affairs and for the British Council of the Institute of Pacific Relations, brings to his task an unrivalled knowledge and a wide experience in Far Eastern affairs. His brief survey of the evolution of the question is succinct and accurate, and covers all the salient points of past negotiations. As an introduction and guide it cannot be recommended too highly.
