The Man I Knew
The Man I Knew
By Countess Haig
Oxford University Press, 1936, 335 pp

It is perhaps unfortunate that Haig's own account of the war was not published in its original form. Instead, we have the "official" biography of Duff Cooper. Lady Haig felt that this was not an adequate record of her husband's career. She has therefore composed her own account of it, based on Haig's letters and diaries, from which, however, she was unable to quote.
