From a Minnesota trust-busting lawyer he became Senator, Ambassador to Great Britain, Secretary of State (under Coolidge) and Judge on the Permanent Court of International Justice. The author, Professor of International Relations at Carleton College, was able to avail himself of unpublished documentary material and of long discussions with Mr. Kellogg himself.
