Hope in America

By John Strachey
Modern Age Books, 1938
215 pp. $50.00

Mr. Strachey recently emerged from the toils of the American immigration regulations designed to keep the United States free from aliens who preach the overthrow of the government. No comfort for the Red-hunters will be found in this book, unless it be the author's too rosy picture of conditions in Soviet Russia. His "hope" is for a Socialist democracy in the United States, one that will actively oppose Fascism.
