Briand. Volumes I, II and III

By Georges Suarez
Plon, 1938

This work is superior to the average run of French political biographies. Suarez had access to Briand's diary and papers, from which he quotes liberally. Historians will find this an invaluable source in spite of its diffuseness and occasional inaccuracies. The present volumes go down to 1916; two others will complete the series.
