Germany Pushes West

Germany Pushes West

By Gerhard Schacher

Hurst, 1939, 256 pp.

In his "Germany Pushes South-East," published in 1937, Dr. Schacher predicted with considerable accuracy the events that actually took place in Central Europe the following year. He now turns his attention to Germany's Western neighbors and warns against making light of Nazi pressure on such countries as Switzerland, Belgium, etc. On the whole his analysis is sound; its principal defect is perhaps in overestimating the Nazi strength in Central and Eastern Europe and in underestimating Poland's determination to resist.
