A Lasting Peace

By Maxwell Garnett
Norton, 1940
288 pp. $2.25

This book was written before the 1940 Blitzkrieg in the west and reflects some of the unrealistic thinking of the "phony war" period. In general the author's approach to the subject is quite pedestrian and shows little awareness of the tremendous issues at stake. The last seven chapters are by H. F. Koeppler and deal with the bases for German cooperation in a free postwar Europe.
