Volcanic Isle
Volcanic Isle
By Wilfrid Fleisher
Doubleday, 1941, 345 pp

During the last seventeen years Mr. Fleisher was a newspaperman in Japan, where he enjoyed unusual facilities for knowing important persons and witnessing important events. His book is thus especially noteworthy as an honest attempt to lift the veil on the complicated history of the last decade in the Far East. His most original chapters are those describing the Fascistization of Japanese life.
