I Was One of Them
I Was One of Them
By Zygmunt Litynski
Cape, 1941, 272 pp.

The author is a Polish journalist who enlisted in the Polish Army in France, fought at Narvik and, after his return to France, succeeded in making his circuitous way to England. Discounting the author's occasional indulgence in excessive recriminations over past mistakes, his book contributes first-rate eye-witness evidence concerning many of the Allies' shortcomings that led to the collapse of France.
