Mr. Lyons, disillusioned radical, has here collected an avalanche of data showing how during the thirties numberless American liberals, humanitarians and intellectuals were hoodwinked by Soviet propaganda into becoming Communist fellow travellers. He offers elaborate documentation and provides extensive quotations. In spite of his fundamentally sound approach to his subject, Lyons occasionally lets his anti-Stalinist zeal get the better of his critical judgment.
