Viscount Halifax

Viscount Halifax

By Alan Campbell Johnson

Ives Washburn, 1941, 575 pp.

A lengthy biography of the present British Ambassador in the United States. Though the author makes few revelations concerning the events with which Lord Halifax was intimately connected, his narrative does make clear that the subject's Christian good will was sometimes greater than his realistic insight, and that he was a greater Viceroy of India than a Foreign Secretary.
