The Haitian People
The Haitian People
By James G. Leyburn
Yale University Press, 1941, 342 pp

This is easily the best informed and the most comprehensive treatise on Haiti to appear in English. The author is associate professor of sociology at Yale. After analyzing the life of the Haitian people in its many aspects, he has put it back together again in a masterly synthesis and in language comprehensible to the layman. It is to be hoped that other scientific, all-round studies on this model will be made for other similar countries and regions.
