Argentina: the Life Story of a Nation

By John W. White
Viking, 1942
366 pp. $3.75

This is probably the best book in English on Argentina. As a long-time resident there and as a sincere friend of the Argentine people, Mr. White -- formerly New York Times correspondent in Buenos Aires -- enjoys a particularly advantageous position from which to interpret our somewhat incomprehensible southern neighbor, candidly but sympathetically.
