This massive work represents the fruits of some fifteen years of cooperative research and study. Volume I examines the history of warfare from earliest times, while volume II analyzes war into its various political, sociological, economic, cultural and other causes and motivations. The treatise concludes with suggestions for the future control of war. In addition to voluminous appendices, there are over fifty charts and seventy-five tables.
