The Fruits of Fascism
The Fruits of Fascism
By Herbert L. Matthews
Harcourt, 1943, 341 pp.

The author served for a number of years as Rome correspondent of the The New York Times. His original admiration for Fascism disappeared during the period when he covered the Spanish Civil War from the Loyalist side. He nevertheless strives in this historical review of the Fascist régime to be utterly objective in his appraisals. Some readers may feel that he has carried impartiality beyond the point where it is a virtue.
