War and Politics in China

The author, for many years a British consular officer in China, later served as Adviser on Far Eastern Affairs to the Foreign Office. In this historical review of China's foreign relations he seeks to correct what he thinks are misconceptions about certain incidents, such as Anglo-American responsibilities in the Manchurian crisis of 1931-32.
