Gallic Charter: Foundations of Tomorrow’s France

A onetime editor of the Rightist newspaper Le Jour of Paris tells us how life under the Vichy régime taught him to value democracy at its true worth. He later joined the resistance movement in France, and finally escaped to London in 1943. While paying tribute to de Gaulle the soldier, he opposes de Gaulle the advocate of a "Fourth Republic." What is needed, he holds, is a reformation of the still existing Third Republic.
