This is the first of a series of small volumes entitled "British Survey Handbooks" prepared by the British Society for International Understanding. Each book is in small format, is printed in small type, and in general represents a remarkable feat in condensing a great deal of historical, geographical, economic, social and political information within a small space. Emphasis is on developments in recent decades. In this volume on Belgium there are two chapters on the Nazi occupation, a brief note on Luxembourg, and a map folded in at the end.
