Climate and the Energy of Nations

By S. F. Markham
Oxford University Press, 1944
236 pp. $3.50

This is an interesting attempt to determine the effect of climatic factors on the "national energy" of various countries. The author may not always be convincing, but at least he has assembled a host of provocative observations. Three chapters concerning the United States have been added to the original English edition of 1942.
