The German Talks Back

By Heinrich Hauser
Holt, 1945
215 pp. $2.50

This book has caused quite a furore, not without assistance from the publishers. Hauser is a German who took refuge in America several years ago but who has now chosen to take his family back to defeated and impoverished Germany. He has written this volume to explain why he made this decision. In the process he finds fault with us (much of it deserved) and reveals -- one supposes quite unintentionally -- what is intellectually twisted and morally wrong with so many of his countrymen.
