The Golden Carpet

By Somerset De Chair
Harcourt, 1945
252 pp. $3.50

This delightfully written book was originally published as a very limited edition in London in 1943. The author served as Intelligence Officer in the incredibly small British force which, in the spring of 1941, was sent from Palestine to put down Rashid Ali's revolt in Iraq. This is the fascinating story of that expedition.
