China in the Sun

By Randall Gould
Doubleday, 1946
403 pp. $3.50

The views of the author, who was formerly editor of the Shanghai Evening Post and Mercury, an American paper, are eminently tolerant and fair-minded, as is seen, for example, in his treatment of the Communists. He covers a wide gamut of Chinese problems -- political, economic and social. He notes the remarkable progress already made during the last generation and is optimistic about the future.
