This is a Communist interpretation of modern German history. The authors devote only a score of pages to the period before 1848, presumably on the theory that what took place before the promulgation of Marx's "Communist Manifesto" is pre-history. They find the German people as a whole morally responsible for the Nazi régime and the war it inflicted on the world.
