This compilation contains 138 documents selected from German Foreign Office materials now in Soviet possession. The documents deal with German policy in regard to Hungary 1937-42 (vol. i), Turkey 1941-43 (vol. ii), and Spain 1936-43 (vol. iii). In general they confirm previous suppositions concerning Nazi aims with respect to those countries. Though the purpose behind their publication would seem to be to convict the governments of these three Powers of full complicity in Nazi policy, this promise is not borne out in the cases of Turkey and Spain. In selecting documents for inclusion, the compilers omitted important accompanying telegrams and despatches to which reference is made in the texts published. The documents, originally all in German, appear here in Russian translation.
