The Roosevelt I Knew
The Roosevelt I Knew
By Frances Perkins
Viking, 1946, 408 pp.

Among the growing company of books on the late President, this one is probably the most satisfactory. Miss Perkins' official association with Roosevelt, longer than that of any other important person, was sufficiently close to give her real insight into his motives and methods. At the same time, her account has an objective tone lacking in some of the other Roosevelt items. Historians of the New Deal will find her book of first-rate value, and more casual readers will find it interesting and well-written.
