The Life of Neville Chamberlain

The Life of Neville Chamberlain
By Keith Feiling
475 pp, Macmillan, 1947

This in effect is an authorized biography, for Professor Feiling, a professional historian, had access to some of Chamberlain's papers though not to a great deal of archival material still closed to public inspection. Nonetheless, his work is dispassionate and balanced, and on the whole the delineation of his subject as loyal, hardworking but unimaginative is not likely to be altered as new sources become available.
