This encyclopedic work was prepared by a panel of Polish experts, several of whom were interned in Switzerland after the fall of France. Volume I, after a brief summary of Poland's military contribution to Allied victory, takes up various phases of Polish political and social affairs during the inter-war period. There are chapters on national minorities, Poles abroad and national defense. Volume II deals with economic development during the same era. There are a number of maps and statistical tables.
