By James Oneal and G. A. Werner
Dutton, 1947, 416 pp.
This revision of Oneal's "American Communism" (published in 1927) was prepared by Professor Werner, authority on Russian history. Oneal's chapters on the early years of American Communism are still the best in the book, for Werner's treatment of the last two decades is far from complete. Even so, the thoroughgoing servitude of the American Communists to Soviet policy is amply documented.
