The United States in World Affairs 1947-1948
By John C. Campbell
Harper (for the Council on Foreign Relations), 1948, 592 pp.

This second postwar volume in the Council on Foreign Relations' annual series carries the story of American foreign policy from early 1947 to the spring of 1948. The narrative is well-organized, objective and factual without being overloaded with detail. The European crisis, developments in the Far East, and the tribulations of the United Nations receive most attention, but economic matters are not neglected, and there is an informative chapter on international civil air transport.
