England: Past, Present and Future
England: Past, Present and Future
By Douglas Jerrold
Norton, 1951, 341 pp

Writing with much zest from a Christian-Conservative position, Mr. Jerrold is particularly pungent, if not always acceptable, in his judgments of recent British history: the First World War, "a story of epoch-making mistakes;" the policy of the inter-war years, "ill advised;" the Attlee Government's India policy, one of "divide and quit," its domestic position, "totalitarian."
