The Jews in the Soviet Union

By Solomon M. Schwarz
Syracuse University Press, 1951
380 pp. $5.00

A careful study of the position and treatment of the Jewish population in the U.S.S.R. The author distinguishes between popular anti-Semitism and the government's attack on Jewish nationalism, the latter having a quite distinct motivation. Nevertheless he finds definite traces since the war of the régime's making use of or fostering anti-Semitic sentiments.
