In this third volume of his memoirs (Volumes I and II noted here in July 1952) the former President is largely concerned with the Depression and the Election of 1932. The last quarter of the book deals with the Roosevelt Administration. Valuable as a document, and welcome as a corrective to extravagant Democratic charges of Republican responsibility for and mismanagement of the Depression, it is not at its best when dealing with the Democrats and the New Deal.
