Woodrow Wilson and the Far East and Woodrow Wilson's China Policy, 1913-1917

By Russell H. Fifield and Tien-Yi Li

Crowell and Twayne, 1952, 383268 pp.

Two able studies. Mr. Fifield traces with skill and dispassion the diplomacy of the Shantung question from its origins before 1914 through the Versailles Conference. Dr. Li's book is limited to the years 1913 to 1917 (a subsequent volume may be forthcoming) and is more directly concerned with President Wilson's approach to Chinese problems as derived from his general political outlook.
