My Mission to Spain
My Mission to Spain
By Claude G. Bowers
Simon and Schuster, 1954, 437 pp

Mr. Bowers was American Ambassador to Spain from 1933 to 1939, and the body of this personal report on that tumultuous and tortured period was written shortly thereafter. As a result it has both the heat of contemporary judgment--it is strongly anti-Franco--and the freshness of recent impressions; but it should not be read as a history of the Civil War.
