Aside from the author's nostalgia for the Habsburg Monarchy whose downfall started it all, this is a dispassionate review of the history of Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary, especially since 1945. Much information, most of it familiar, some of it inaccurate, is amassed and presented in a somewhat disorganized fashion.
