Coal and Steel in Western Europe

Coal and Steel in Western Europe

By Norman J. G. Pounds and William N. Parker

Indiana University Press, 1957, 381 pp.

A geographer and an economic historian combine to examine the growth of Western Europe's heavy industry. Using statistics judiciously they also draw heavily on a wide range of materials concerning, among other things, technology, education, industrial organization, and the characteristics of the local raw material. The result is a most useful book with much original analysis.
