A Soldier with the Arabs
A Soldier with the Arabs
By Lieutenant-General Sir John Bagot Glubb
Harper, 1958, 458 pp

These memoirs of the former Commander of the Arab Legion deal largely with the continuing if intermittent conflict between Israelis and Arabs in the 1940s and 1950s, up to Glubb's abrupt dismissal in 1956. Given the tensions involved in this issue, it is a remarkably even-tempered work.
