By Richard P. Stebbins
Harper (for the Council on Foreign Relations), 1958, 411 pp.

Another solid, timely and eminently readable installment in the Council on Foreign Relations' continuing history of American foreign relations. Highlights of this volume, in which the author displays his usual coolness in disentangling explosive issues, are the inclusion of the Middle East in the sphere of American defense commitments and the projection of the East-West rivalry into outer space through the agency of the Soviet sputniks.
