The Passing of Traditional Society: Modernizing the Middle East

This sociological inquiry into modernization and shifting attitudes in the countries of the Middle East is based upon analyses of extensive field interviews undertaken eight years ago, supplemented and up-dated by more recent visits to the area. The study is sponsored jointly by the Center for International Studies at M.I.T. and the Bureau of Applied Social Research at Columbia University.
