This fifth volume of Professor Carr's imposing work in progress, "A History of Soviet Russia," is the first of three covering the critical and relatively uncharted years 1924-1926. After giving a brief background and a sketch of the leading actors, the book is devoted chiefly to economic matters and especially the agricultural question. As in the preceding installments, Professor Carr demonstrates his mastery of the historian's craft.
