An interesting and provocative critical analysis of American foreign policy in the twentieth century. The author's central theme of the unhappy continuity of "open-door imperial expansion" is obviously debatable, as is his interpretation of the mainsprings of Soviet policy--a highly relevant factor in any discussion of the American position.
