America the Vincible

By Emmet John Hughes
Doubleday, 1959
306 pp. $3.95

As the title indicates, Mr. Hughes--who has in the past been closely associated with the White House--is far from happy about U.S. policies. While many of his specific criticisms are directed against positions attributed to the late John Foster Dulles, his real complaint is with general American attitudes and purposes, which he finds sadly out of touch with the world's realities.
