Peace with Russia?

By Averell Harriman
Simon and Schuster, 1959
174 pp. $3.00

Based on a recent trip to the Soviet Union and enriched by the author's earlier experiences as American Ambassador in Moscow, this little book is an excellent and well-balanced survey of contemporary Russia and its leadership. While Mr. Harriman does not discount the prospect of eventual beneficial changes he finds the Soviet Union vigorous and dynamic and run by men with a lively confidence in the triumph of their system.
