The United States in the World Arena
The United States in the World Arena
By W. W. Rostow
Harper, 1960, 568 pp.

This massive book--part of the American Project conducted at the Center for International Studies at M.I.T.--undertakes a wide-ranging review of the development of American society, the interplay between this society and the rest of the world, especially in the last 20 years, the prospects and problems for the future, and the tasks before American society. There are very few topics Mr. Rostow is not willing to take on, but the book for all its length remains an essay.
