The Dynamics of Communism in Eastern Europe
The Dynamics of Communism in Eastern Europe
By R. V. Burks
Princeton University Press, 1961, 244 pp.

On the basis of interviews with former Greek Communists and some very revealing multiple correlation analyses of election statistics, Mr. Burks sheds important light on the social composition and motivations of Communist Party members in Eastern Europe. His findings indicate clearly that Marxist categories are quite inadequate in describing Communism as a political force, at least in this part of the world.
