The late Lester Pearson, after retiring from politics, taught briefly at Carleton University in Ottawa. His academic colleagues organized and largely wrote this Festschrift, containing essays of high quality (the majority are historical and filled with information) on subjects with which Pearson's career was involved: the U.N., NATO, the law of the sea, and international economic development.
