The Road to Ramadan
The Road to Ramadan
By Mohamed Heikal
Quadrangle/The New York Times Book Company, 1975, 285 pp

The former editor of Al Ahram and cabinet minister, confidant of Nasser and Sadat, does not disappoint readers looking for revelations. His reports of governmental councils and diplomatic conversations at high levels through the period leading up to the war of 1973 are filled with fascinating details. Historians in due course will check them with other sources, but meanwhile this is gourmet fare for followers of the Middle East drama.
