Nepali Politics: Retrospect and Prospect

By Rishikesh Shaha

Oxford University Press, 1975, 208 pp.

The author was his country's former Ambassador to the U.S. and to the U.N. as well as its ex-Foreign and Finance Minister. Now exiled for his opposition to royal autocracy, he has written a surpassingly lucid and straightforward account of Nepali politics, both domestic and foreign; his frank commitment to increased democracy and popular participation is a welcome relief from the value-free stance of the professional political scientist.
