This collection of searching essays seeks "to examine the lessons of Vietnam before debate ends and they become doctrine." The 23 authors include scholars from a variety of disciplines, political and military leaders, and former makers of foreign policy. While the majority of the contributors are critics of American policy during the Vietnam War, they are united by a concern that the symbol of "Vietnam" could become as rigid and dangerous an influence over the next generation of policy as "Munich" was for the generation just ended.
