On Revolt: Strategies of National Liberation

By J. Bowyer Bell

Harvard University Press, 1976, 272 pp.

Bowyer Bell's writings on revolutionary war have been characterized by his extensive travels and on-the-spot observation of liberation movements and their leaders. This wide-ranging book which discusses the Mau Mau in Kenya, the EOKA in Cyprus, and the IRA in Ireland, among several other groups, is noteworthy less for its originality than for its depth of detail.
